Mission

The mission of the Department of Applied Linguistics is to prepare highly qualified specialists in the field of technical translation and linguistics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, we provide foreign language education for engineers and technological specialists throughout MUST.

Faculty & Staff

Department lecturers have retrained in different countries such as England, USA, Australia, Japan, Russia, Malaysia and Korea to improve their language knowledge and professional skills. Teaching staff of the department provide fundamental knowledge of general and applied linguistics, translation theory and terminology in science and technology including: mining, geology, power engineering, architecture, information technology, mechanics, food and biotechnology and etc. The following abilities and skills are provided to the students: professional mindset and skills to translate and solve problems in developing technical terminology; creative thinking, positive attitude, professional ethics, teamwork, responsibility.

Research Focus

The research priorities of our department focus on applied linguistic fields such as terminology, translation, contrastive linguistics, second language acquisition and methodology.

Our department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs in the field of technical translation and linguistics.

The main distinction of our school from other language institutes is the study of fundamental engineering subjects and specializing in technical translation apart from two languages and it facilitates in providing ability and skills to translate technical documents.

Our students carry out field practice and professional internship collaborating with different companies, such as Barloworld Mongolia LLC, MonEnergy Consult LLC,Tsetsuuh Trade LLC, Vitafit LLC, MyMonSource LLC and etc.
