STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Undergraduate students of the Foreign Language Translation program, in addition to taking numerous courses in two foreign languages, must complete compulsory engineering courses and specialize in technical translation courses, which make our program unique among programs offered by other language schools and universities. Therefore, our alumni have evident advantages to work as translators in various engineering fields.

In terms of internships, students have two ways of experience actual translation work. Introductory, on-site internship enable them to refine their translation ability at following companies and organizations such as Barloworld Mongolia (Wagner Asia Equipment LLC), MAK LLC, Geosun LLC, Mon-Energy Consult LLC, Tsetsens Mining and Energy LLC, Ministry of Road and Transport Development, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Ministry of Energy, Thermal Power Plant IV, Tehnoj Business Incubator Center NGO, etc. During a Professional internship, students translate technical documentation such as manuals, instruction guides for new equipment and safety regulations. In addition, they work as interpreters for national and international sports competitions such as Youth World Boxing Championships, Wrestling Championships, Asian Table Tennis Championships and others events.

We are proud of our students’ outstanding performance in a variety of competitions. In particular, they successfully participate in annual English Olympiad and Best Speaker Competition, organized among the students of the School of Foreign Languages; English Olympiad organized by the National University of Mongolia, Foreign Languages Olympiad organized by Mongolian National University of Education, Business English Contest organized by Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, “Young Tourism Pro” co-organized by Selena Travel Group and  Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism and other national and international competitions and events.

Acquiring translation knowledge and practice, our graduates get the opportunity to work as translators and foreign affair officers at companies and enterprises with foreign and domestic investments in various technical fields, such as mining, construction and energy and so on. In addition to teaching foreign languages in schools, universities and colleges, dozens of graduates continue their studies at universities in the UK, USA, Japan, South Korea and other countries.
